A trailblazer in public service and policy, Kathleen Kennedy Townsend served as Maryland's first female Lieutenant Governor from 1995 to 2003. With a distinguished career, she has held roles such as advisor on retirement at the U.S. Department of Labor, chair of American Bridge, and senior fellow at Harvard Kennedy School and Georgetown Public Policy Institute. An honors graduate of Harvard University and the University of New Mexico School of Law, she brings decades of leadership in crime reduction, workforce development, and community service to the institute. Her vision drives our commitment to ethical technology and legislative impact.

A healthcare technologist, educator, and internationally recognized advocate for ethical AI, Ian Slade co-founded the Kennedy Institute for Cybersecurity. Author of "Flow Like Water" (#10 on Amazon Business Ethics), he is a pioneer at the intersection of human and artificial intelligence. Known for his groundbreaking TEDxPacific Avenue talk with AI co-speaker Hannah—now deployed in California rehabilitation centers—Ian challenges us to see AI as a mirror reflecting our humanity. During the Biden administration, he contributed to the Partnership for Digital Access for Africa and was named the 2022 HIMSS Global Advocate of the Year. His innovative work inspires our institute's mission.
